Here’s What I Do To Keep My Lips Healthy
Hey beauties! Let’s talk about this attractive part of our features, our lips. Just like any other part of our body, they require specific care in order to maintain those kissable lips healthy all year long.
How To Keep Your Lips Healthy
I have been taking care of my lips for a while now with the following steps and I can proudly brag that they are in great condition. With that being said, I need to emphasize that if you are consistent and persistent, these tips can work to improve their appearance over time.
-Morning and night when you are doing your beauty routine, don’t forget to treat the lips. I know you have probably invested in a bunch of specific products such as tonic, eye-cream, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, etcetera. So good news, it’s not necessary to spend a lot on a specific lip cream, I always apply a small portion of my eye cream around and on my lips. Eye-creams are made with specific ingredients to treat the delicate area around the eyes. And since we have thinner skin around the lip area, eye-cream works great to hydrate them. To provide extra-hydration it’s better to use an
-Exfoliate your lips twice a week. If you don’t have a lip scrub don’t worry! Here’s an easy recipe for a DIY lip scrub that I love. It helps get rid of the dead skin on your lips leaving them super smooth. You can also use a toothbrush and gently rub your lips. You will be surprised at how gorgeous and kissable your lips will look after this trick. Follow with your lip balm and voilā!
-Apply SPF on your lips ALWAYS! And when I say always, I mean even on cloudy or rainy days. Your lips are part of our face so when applying your daily sunscreen, don’t forget to treat the lips. As I previously mentioned, the best way is to use a lip balm with SPF for the every day. But if you are on vacation and exposed to the sunlight, it’s extremely important to use extra protection. For the eyes, you wear sunglasses, right? Well, do the same with your lips. Wear that layer that will block the sunlight, SUNSCREEN!.
To avoid premature skin aging, stay away from smoking and second hand smoking. This unhealthy habit not only leads to unevenly colored lips but overall health problems.
Bonus Tip: To avoid wrinkles around your lips avoid the habit of drinking from a straw, the movement we normally do when puckering will cause vertical lines along your upper lips. So girl, remember that “prevention is better than cure”.
Follow these simple steps and you will love the results. They have worked for me so try them and please let me know your feedback in the comments below. Any other tips to keep your lips healthy? I would love to know!
